Review on the Art exhibition “A l'angle des possibles"
6th edition of the festival of visual art “ Orienta “
The art exhibition “A l'angle des possibles" is a festival which is planned by the Orienta in Oujda ,throughout the months of April and May, in many spots around Oujda. The exhibition was really interesting, all my colleagues showed their artistic side while watching different pieces of art. Each painting had it’s charm ,and enchantment. The guides did their best to guide the whole group from one place to another in an ordered way. In addition, they did their best to explain each artistic work in an easy way ,so that everyone can understand.
We first went to the art gallery, where most of Aajour’s works were. Followed by the French institute of the oriental where we saw a 15mins movie called Le Park by Randa Maroufi ,and then we went to villa verte which unfortunately we found close. We ended our beautiful journey visiting Omar ibn Abdelaziz high school ;which was the last station.
Moreover, the exhibition contained almost 50 artworks including; photographs, paintings ,and videos performances installations several produced especially for the exhibition, made by 35 artists from different countries ;which were engaged in the 6th edition of the international festival of contemporary art orienta. But the one who captured my attention the most was the one and only Ahmed Aajour; whose work is really fascinating .
Aajour's paintings had an inner content that can’t be understood unless you read about him ,and his works, he always tried to touch a person’s soul in his work. Most of his artistic works are about things he witnessed and went through in his life such as: the colonial times where the Spanish invaders colonized the Rif region ,and the Aajour’s plane which is a historical.
The plane represents the 15 of the July 1956 ,a historical landmark event. Which combined the liberation hero of His Majesty King Mohammed V, God rest his soul, with the people of Nador in their first visit to the King, after the independence of Morocco. The plane is made of iron and wood, the artist used to renovate the plane ,whenever it needed to be fixed, it is sufficient to know that it’s 60 year old. This was the way that the talented Aajour embodied the return of the plane from the exile ,and of course his artistic work was part of the ceremony that was held in honor of the visit of His Majesty King Mohammed V, God rest his soul.
